I have been going to the Young Writers Institute for three years and have enjoyed it more and more each time. It’s really fun to be in a place where everybody enjoys writing and is supportive in helping you will all different stages of the creative process. I particularly enjoyed the guest speakers and how they have introduced me to different forms of writing I had not previously delved into. At the Young Writers Institute I was introduced to short fiction writing, a style that I keep using and developing to this day. Thanks to the Young Writers Institute, I have improved my essay writing skills dramatically, and no longer write cut and dry five paragraph essays.
my purse
a tattered novel, thumbed over until near death
a tin of mints covered in dents
a tangle of silk yarn
a lone knitting needle missing its brother
a wallet that never has enough
a scuffed up iPod with knotted earbuds
a cell phone that rings at the exact wrong time
a purple mitten
storm
sun, trees, birds, laughter, breeze, clouds, rain, thunder, hail, rumble, lightning, tree branch, howling, flash, screaming, tears, shower, sun, birds, silence.
this is just to say
I never did
turn in that paper
that was due yesterday
the one on
charles dickens
Forgive me
the sun was
so bright
so tempting
